VENDOR INFO
If you are interested in becoming a vendor for this Fair, please see the information below. To receive a copy of this information and an application form via email, please email your request to: whidbeywildlife@whidbey.net.
It happens on Saturday, June 2nd, 2012, and brings together the business community, non-profit organizations like Whidbey Audubon Society, Whidbey Watershed Stewards and Friends of Freeland, plus residents of all ages, and…the great outdoors! It will be a Spring event that celebrates the island’s certification as a Community Wildlife Habitat by the National Wildlife Federation, and will provide the kind of information and products that will help in the preservation of our diverse wildlife habitat.
Key to the success of the fair are its vendors—you—with useful products, tools, and information that aid the homeowner in creating a safe and welcoming backyard for its wildlife visitors and the family that calls it home.
Keynote speakers will explain why it’s important to modify backyards to help preserve the wildlife and their interesting and sometimes challenging habits. You, the Vendor, will show how to do it. You can offer a range of solutions and information–from the most basic to the more comprehensive–that fits within the time and budget constraints of Fair attendees.
The display area will feature groupings of commercial and non-profit vendors with supportive products and related “how-to” information. Located within the fenced area at Freeland Park and behind Freeland Hall, the anchor of each group will be a demonstration garden and its supporting vendor. Other vendors in the group will provide supportive services, products, and how-to information. Such a layout will make it easy for fairgoers to understand how they can modify their backyards and who can help them do it.
Imagine a garden area with a selection of domestic and native plants—annuals, perennials, and a selection of shrubs that provide food (berries) and shelter for wildlife. Shrub groupings may also be used to help organize the yard for various functional purposes—play for children, family or adult socializing, water features, and a garden-related work area—composting, brush piles, wood storage, etc.
Of course, we’ll also have music, fun and interactive displays, including craft-oriented programs for kids, and interesting know-how for the adult wildlife viewer. And there will also be food—a combination of tasty commercial food and home-baked goodies that everyone loves.
We hope you can envision the commercial benefits the Fair will offer you, and the comprehensive information and products you can show and sell to interested visitors. We will add your logo and information to the Fair website as soon as you register.
By June people will be primed to be outside. The beach setting, historic Freeland Hall, the quality of speakers, and you, the Vendor, will make this an event to remember.
We welcome you and appreciate your support.
